Sailor’s Creek, a small stream in Prince Edward’s County, Virginia.
It flows in a general direction northward, and empties into the Appomattox. A
fierce battle was fought here, April 6, 1865, only three days before the
surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia, under General Robert E. Lee. The
battle was fought about two miles from Rice’s Station, and about seven miles
from Farmville, in the same county.
Saylorsville, a small post-town in Polk County, Iowa. It was laid out and
named by John B. Saylor, who was a son of a Benjamin Saylor, of South Carolina.
Saylorsburgh, another small post-town, situated in Monroe County,
Pennsylvania.
